But I just picked up wind from the grapevine that something just erupted... Watch this and this. Then read this which is a response by a faculty present to the guy who got up and spoke to Bro, and then read this, which is the faculty response to the above faculty.

There's a mushroom plunk abrewing up north! Would love to hear your reactions.

11 Songs that I Have Enjoyed the Past Month

Music outside of the classic oldies was never really emphasized in my household. I can talk at length about classic bands such as the Beatles, the Beach Boys, CCR, Led Zeppelin, the Eagles, etc.

So “discovering” new music for me has typically been dependent on other people “in the know” or looking backwards at classic music that I had not been exposed to and streaming albums and such.

With this in mind, here are songs that I have really enjoyed over the past month or so. For those that know music much better than I do, I’m sure these will come across as a resounding “duh…”

So it’s happening again…

I was informed last week that my current advisor was leaving for a university in North Carolina starting at the beginning of the next school year.

So, to keep tally, that’s the second advisor I will have gone through in my time here.

I have a tentative plan developing about how to adjust this, and I will talk more about this at a later point in time. It does not likely entail transferring or going with her. 

One of the few silver linings I’m finding right now is that the idea that I have for my dissertation is only starting to gain some legs and thus could be molded to fit the ideas that a new adviser might have.

But it’s been a difficult week and will continue to be tough until this gets more fully sorted out. I'm being told that I need to do what is best for me, but how can I know what's best for me if, ya know, I've never done a dissertation before? 

Also, it’s the end of the quarter, so there’s that, too.

This is an exciting place, with excellent faculty and passionate
